Interview: Let’s Talk About Artificial Intelligence (AI) - By Marc-André Otis

Whether we call them Deus Ex Machina (from The Matrix) or Terminator, artificial intelligence systems have been at the center of multiple science fiction movies. The box-office success of such movies makes it safe to say that the public’s interest is sparked by the idea of a “robotic superintelligence” that could exceed human cognitive capacities. Still, the artificial intelligence field remains unknown to many and it is an exciting domain in which Canada (and Montreal in particular) is starting to emerge as a significant player. In this context, I sat down with Dave Anctil, a philosophy professor at College Jean-de-Brébeuf, who teaches a class entitled “Penser l’intelligence artificielle” (Thinking artificial intelligence). 1)       What are your qualifications regarding the subject of AI? Program requirements, jobs, studying: What is political science? - By Michelle Pelletier

A profile piece on a political science major Politics are a central part of every upstanding citizen’s life. Be it through voting, getting involved in municipal politics or signing a petition, everyone will eventually be confronted with political choices.            Audrey-Frédérique Lavoie, a political science major at McGill, was kind enough to grant me an interview to answer potential questions a future university applicant could have. A Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf alumnus, she has been greatly involved in her community. Between managing the Cercle de la relève de la Fondation de l’Hôpital de Montréal pour enfants , Déjeun’aide – Breakfast with Leaders (a networking initiative for students and young professionals exclusively orchestrated by students) and closely working with Montreal’s Youth Council, Audrey-Frédérique is most certainly involved in her community’s wellbeing. She is currently on a student exchange at the Science...

“Study drugs”, a problematic reality - By Arina Bordian

“Study drugs”, a problematic reality A study conducted with more than 10,000 college students from across the country found that more than half of students with an Adderall or other ADHD drug prescription were asked to sell the medication to peers and friends. The problem at hand is none other than the misuse of methylphenidate, more commonly known as the drug prescribed to people with either attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or attention deficit disorder (ADD). People that use it for a medical purpose have symptoms such as impulsive behaviour and lack of concentration and motivation, yet more and more people are using them for reasons other than its original intent.

Due Tomorrow? Do Tomorrow. - By Emily Oulousian

Due Tomorrow? Do Tomorrow.  Tomorrow. / təˈmôrō / (noun). The day after today, also known as the day where all of student productivity, study and inspiration strikes. We have all rewarded ourselves with hours on the Internet after studying math for twenty minutes. We have all gone on Youtube to watch a Ted Talk for gym class and, 3 hours later, caught ourselves watching a tutorial on how to talk to hippos.
